A survey reveals the reasons why young people and teenagers refrain from having children in the future
The results of a survey conducted by scientists at University College London revealed the reasons that prevent young people and teenagers from planning to have children in the future.
Health Education magazine indicates that, according to the results of the survey, these reasons are: climate change, negatives associated with pregnancy and childbirth, financial burdens, and obstacles that prevent the achievement of personal aspirations.
More than 900 young men and women aged 16-18 years participated in this survey. The researchers asked them to clarify whether they plan to start a family and have a child in the future. As well as their fears of motherhood or fatherhood in the future.
The survey results showed that about a third do not plan to have children. About 45 percent of the survey participants fear taking on the responsibility of fatherhood. Due to lack of confidence in themselves and their health, inability to achieve the child’s well-being and potential financial burdens. All these reasons reduce their desire to have children.
Some of the survey participants announced that they do not plan to have children due to climate change, while others doubt their ability to give birth to healthy offspring due to environmental pollution. Others do not plan to have children because of the negatives associated with pregnancy and childbirth.
